Ho, ho, hold on there!
It has become quite a thing now to complete 500km between Christmas and the new year. Riders all over the world are rolling out their doors as work-life-family commitments allow and getting the hours done, whatever the conditions. But there is a new way, a better way.
Not everyone has the opportunity or desire to spend Christmas with family and friends, so why not complete your annual 500km challenge in Girona, with Grit and Guava Bikes?
Girona’s premier accommodation and guiding services have always worked together to deliver exceptional experiences to cyclists visiting Girona. Now however we combine forces in a new way to create the Filthy 500, a glorious week of superb gravel, great food, amazing accommodation, and as much festive fun as you want - without the usual trappings of consumer Christmas.
We promise not to ruin Christmas like your weird uncle or annoying in-laws while we guide you over 500km of incredible routes in the Girona region. We might not even mention Christmas, but for the sake of tradition part of the package is a fantastic group lunch on 25th December.
Think how much better the last week of the year will be without gift pressure, intrusive questions from relatives and awful TV? Instead, spend the week under blue sky*, riding some of the best gravel you’ll find anywhere, staying in great bike-friendly accommodation right in the mix of Girona old town.
Our plan is to cover 60-90km per day showcasing the huge variety of terrain to be found in the Girona region, with great coffee and lunch stops to break up the days. Between 24th and 31st December you’ll achieve your 500km challenge, with optional extra km available for the dedicated.
Our last night will involve a group dinner, then you’re free to join us for the city’s New Year celebrations, or you can just go to bed early. This is a week for doing whatever you want, as long as part of what you want is 500km of prime gravel!
The routes will not be technically demanding unless requested by the group, but you should possess adequate fitness to allow for 4-5 hours of riding on consecutive days, for a total of 500km in one week. The routes will offer you the opportunity to swim in the sea and rivers should you seek a cold water buzz.
Accommodation is provided on the basis of your own room in a shared Bravissimo apartment, with a discount if you don’t mind sharing a room, and a high quality hotel option if that’s your thing.

Price: The base price is €2335 for accommodation in a single room. Should you be willing to share a room, we can offer you a 5% discount. You can also choose to stay in a hotel.
